One of the best and possibly controversial features LinkedIn has released to date is the ability to endorse people in your network for various skills. I am sure if you’ve used LinkedIn for any amount of time those notifications that pop up where so and so has endorsed you for a skill. Sometimes its a relevant skill you have and other times not so much. It seems to be that every few days I’ve get people endorsing me for skills and sometimes skills that aren’t necessarily ones I possess. Let’s look at a way that you can manage endorsements in LinkedIn. You’ll need to sign into your LinkedIn profile and edit your profile, scrolling to the “Skills & Endorsements” section and click the “+ Add Skill” button. When you do you will see the following screen…
Now, from here depending on what you want to do the following…
- Show or hide either all endorsements ( if you want to clean up your LinkedIn profile completely) or select to show and/or hide endorsements from specific people
- Add or remove skills that people have endorsed you for. This becomes important to maintain your LinkedIn reputation by showcasing only specific skills you either want to be known for and have or to highlight specific skills.
Depending on what you want to do you can greatly clean up, hide, highlight and add specific skills or all skills you want to be endorsed for on LinkedIn.
